Location Scouting

Location scouting was an essential part of my pre-production process, as the environment plays a significant role in communicating the emotional tone of the music video. Since the concept explores identity fracture and internal struggle, the locations needed to visually reflect isolation, introspection, and quiet psychological tension.

The music video will include both indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor location is a minimal, controlled space that allows for soft lighting and focused framing. This environment supports the more intimate and reflective moments of the video. A simple interior space helps remove distractions, allowing the audience to concentrate on the character’s emotions, facial expressions, and symbolic props. The lack of clutter reinforces the feeling of emotional emptiness and introspection.

The outdoor location consists of an empty road within my hometown. This setting was selected because it visually represents distance, solitude, and emotional detachment. Open space naturally creates a sense of vulnerability and exposure, which aligns with the themes explored in the video. Additionally, filming outdoors after rainfall enhances the visual atmosphere, as wet surfaces create reflections that add depth and symbolism without requiring artificial effects.

When scouting these locations, I considered practical factors such as lighting conditions, background distractions, noise levels, and accessibility. The chosen areas are quiet and safe, allowing filming to take place without interruption. I also evaluated how natural light changes throughout the day to determine the best time for shooting, particularly for achieving a soft, melancholic tone during evening scenes.

Overall, the selected locations are not random they are carefully chosen to strengthen the emotional and symbolic meaning of the video. Each environment supports the narrative concept visually, ensuring that the setting itself contributes to the storytelling rather than simply serving as a backdrop.
