Refined Visual Approach

After resolving the production issue, I developed a refined visual concept that aligns with both my original theme and the new character. The final music video focuses on a solitary male figure presented in a highly controlled and stylised environment, emphasising emotional isolation and internal reflection.

The visual style will incorporate low-key lighting with strong contrasts between light and shadow to create a dramatic and introspective atmosphere. A muted colour palette of cool tones such as blues and greys will be used to represent emotional detachment, while warmer tones will appear selectively to symbolise moments of human vulnerability. This contrast reinforces the idea of a fragmented identity.

Symbolism remains a key element in the video. Objects and settings are used to represent different aspects of the character’s internal state rather than telling a direct story. The pacing will be slow and deliberate, allowing the audience to focus on subtle expressions and visual details. Camera work will prioritise stillness, controlled movement, and thoughtful composition to maintain a consistent emotional tone.

Overall, this refined approach allows me to successfully continue my project despite initial setbacks. It demonstrates my ability to solve production problems creatively while still producing a coherent and meaningful music video that aligns with my research and planning.

During pre-production, exploring different storyboard options and shot ideas was an essential step to ensure that each scene effectively conveys emotion, symbolism, and narrative flow. Rather than immediately settling on a final storyboard, I experimented with alternative compositions, camera angles, and visual perspectives to determine the most impactful way to present the story. For the initial exploration, I sketched multiple variations of key shots, focusing on how framing, distance, and camera movement influence the viewer’s emotional experience. Filming Challenges & Contingency Planning

As part of my pre-production process, I considered potential challenges that may arise during filming and developed contingency plans to ensure the project can continue smoothly. Since the music video includes both indoor and outdoor locations, careful preparation is necessary to manage environmental and technical risks. One major challenge is outdoor lighting conditions. Natural light changes quickly, especially during sunset and evening scenes. If lighting becomes inconsistent, it may affect continuity between shots.
