Final concept overview

My final music video concept is based on an interpretive and emotionally driven approach, focusing on themes of identity, regret, and internal conflict. Rather than presenting a linear or action-based narrative, the video explores the psychological state of the main character through symbolic visuals and controlled cinematography.

The concept follows a male character who is shown reflecting on his past and the consequences of his actions. His past is suggested through fragmented and stylised visual sequences, which appear as memories rather than direct storytelling. These moments are intentionally presented in a non-linear way to reflect how memories are experienced unclear, incomplete, and emotionally driven.

The present timeline of the video focuses on the character in isolation. Through minimal movement and carefully composed shots, the audience is able to observe his internal struggle without the need for dialogue. The use of symbolic elements such as objects, lighting, and space allows meaning to be communicated visually, making the video more interpretive.

A key aspect of the concept is the contrast between past and present. The past is represented through darker, fragmented visuals, while the present focuses on stillness and reflection. This contrast highlights the emotional weight the character carries and reinforces the idea that he is unable to escape his previous identity.

The structure of the video follows a gradual emotional progression, beginning with detachment, moving through reflection and conflict, and leading towards an ambiguous ending. The final scene does not provide a clear resolution but instead leaves the outcome open to interpretation. This allows the audience to engage more deeply with the meaning of the video rather than being given a fixed conclusion.

Visually, the concept relies on low-key lighting, a restricted colour palette, and slow pacing to create a consistent tone throughout. The combination of these elements ensures that the focus remains on atmosphere and emotion rather than action.

Overall, my final concept reflects a shift from my original idea due to production challenges, but it successfully maintains the core themes and interpretive style. By adapting the concept while preserving its emotional depth, I have created a music video that is both visually cohesive and meaningful.

Filming Challenges & Contingency Planning

As part of my pre-production process, I considered potential challenges that may arise during filming and developed contingency plans to ensure the project can continue smoothly. Since the music video includes both indoor and outdoor locations, careful preparation is necessary to manage environmental and technical risks. One major challenge is outdoor lighting conditions.
