Updated Moodboard
For my updated music video concept, I created a moodboard to visually plan the overall aesthetic, tone, and style of my video. The moodboard focuses on creating a dark, cinematic atmosphere that reflects the emotional state of the main character.
The visual style is based on a strong contrast between cold and warm lighting. Cold blue and grey tones are used to represent isolation, emotional detachment, and the character’s past, while warm lighting is used more selectively to symbolise moments of reflection and remaining humanity. This contrast helps to visually communicate the internal conflict of the character.
I also explored low-key and chiaroscuro lighting, where only certain parts of the frame are illuminated while the rest remains in shadow. This creates a sense of mystery and allows the character to appear partially hidden, reinforcing the idea of a fragmented identity.
In terms of setting, the moodboard includes both indoor and outdoor locations. The indoor spaces are minimal and dark to emphasise isolation, while outdoor locations such as open spaces help to show distance and emotional separation.
Props and costume choices are also an important part of the visual planning. The use of simple but symbolic elements helps to represent different aspects of the character’s identity and past without relying on dialogue or direct storytelling.
Overall, the moodboard helps to ensure that all visual elements of my music video work together to create a consistent emotional tone and support the themes of identity, regret, and internal conflict.
